Sunday, August 23, 2009, we had our 11th Annual Gillenkirk Family Reunion.
For those of you who could have not attended, we wish you all the best wishes and hope you can make it next year to the 12th Annual Reunion.
I took pictures this year and will have them uploaded soon as possible.
Cory Gillenkirk (“The President”) held it at Munson Park, A lot people have mentioned good park and could have it their next year depending what is available and funding.
Steve Gillenkirk (“Vice President”) and Sue P. did the cooking of hotdogs, hamburgers and Italian sausage provided by Vince Gillenkirk (“Grandpa”).
Pretty good turnout, the weather was nice; it was partly cloudy and didn’t rain all day.
I’ve taken a picture of the Gillenkirk Family Reunion sign and I’ll have it posted in the gallery soon.
I asked Lenny if he wouldn’t mind doing the 50/50 raffle as he did it last year and turned out ok, We raised $166 Total, but the payout was $83 and Michelle Howard (Lenny’s and Nancy’s daughter) won the raffle. Congrats! Aunt Pansy did the drawing.
We didn’t have any specific item raffles this year, Next year I’m going to see what I can buy/bring for that reason to help raise money.
I brought back the guessing jar! This time we had different candy and a different number so it was harder to guess. The question is who won? Well, We didn’t have any specific rules who could actually play, Family and/or Friends – We had the band their and one the members girlfriend won, Mary-Ellen, She guessed 325. Phillip (Lenny’s and Nancy’s son) guessed 285 – The rule is “whoever is closer”. The winning amount was 318. (Mary-Ellen: 325 – 318 = 7 over; Phillip: 318 – 285 = 33 off) 7 Over but closer is still a winner.
We purchased 2 gift cards this year for the youngest and oldest.

Lynette Gillenkirk did the Kids Games this year and she did a good job, everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt, next year we’ll probably be planning on doing that again but with a special prize. (Possibly a gift card)
Everyone from the 11th Annual Reunion will be in the same place again for the 12th Annual Reunion, meaning, Cory Gillenkirk is President, Steve Gillenkirk is Vice President and Lynette Gillenkirk is the Game Planner.
We announced the www.gillenkirk.com website again trying to get it out their; I don’t know if anyone really pays attention at the meetings regarding such things, I guess the site is more targeting to more of the newer audience then the older family members.
No births, deaths, marriages or graduations this year.
The surveys were passed out again this year, some have mentioned “Again?” yes again! I’ve received returned mail, I would like to make sure I have everyone’s information up to date; the survey is simply the replacement for notebook of writing your name in it. We’ll be doing it again next year as well – I’ll have an online version of it soon.
This year we raised a total amount of $160.00 between the 50/50; few auction items that sold and free will donation(s). Worse than last year (Raised $246 for 10th)
If anyone is visiting this site, Even though the reunion is over; you can still donate at any time online and send it through the mail. Otherwise next year Munson Park will be out of the question. (Have to go somewhere within budget) Munson cost $60 to rent, that leaves $100 for Kids prizes, stamps, envelopes and printing. I would also like to get 2-3 new tables. (For where the food sits, ones we use are in bad shape)
